Always curious.
Always in motion.
Hi, I’m Zichen (朱子晨) — a software engineer and data systems researcher, with a life beyond the keyboard.
This is a place for the things I build, the dances I practice, the music I play, and the stories along the way.
More than one thing
A few parts of my world.
Under the surface.
Data systems, storage engines, and making the most of limited resources.
02 / Dance ↗Learning in motion.
International Latin, Standard, and American Smooth. Practice and performance.
03 / Music ↗One track at a time.
Playing, recording, and finding my way through the music.
A little background
Building systems.
Making room for life.
I’m a software engineer at Google in Kirkland. I completed my PhD in Computer Science at Boston University in May 2025, advised by Manos Athanassoulis in the MiDAS group. Before BU, I studied at the University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University.
